My ferry was at 9:30am and I couldn’t get out of that bungalow fast enough. It was quite an experience to say the least. I turned my motor scooter in to the rental agency and strolled to the dock. The ferry ride to Surat Thani was smooth and uneventful. It was the first real A/C I have had in a long time and after reading several chapters of a great book, The Light Behind Blue Circles, by my friend and author, Robert DeMayo (Which you should purchase here.) I became very relaxed and decided to fall into a deep sleep. Upon awaking I made my way to the bus transfer to Krabi town. After another hour nap I dove back into my book once again.
Now, here I sit in a place called Ao Nang, a touristy part of the Andaman sea punctuated with monumental limestone crags and turquoise blue waters. This was the first part of my trip where I met an American, Chicago native Josh, who was on vacation from his job in Korea where he taught English. I spontaneously dined with 2 other fellows, one from Canada and the other from Ireland who were on a group tour and enjoying the Ao Nanag nitelife.
Now, it is time for me to turn in. I just had a 1 hour back/shoulder deep tissue massage and I’m in a Zen state. Oh, I decided to splurge the extra $10 and get a room with A/C – my first since Bangkok. I’m living large tonight! I even have sheets on my bed…and a electrical outlet. Ahhhh….the luxuries.
