Looks like I’m really going to Thailand

Thailand is +12 hours ahead of Arizona’s timezone.  As a part of my jet lag strategy, I went to bed last night at 9am and woke at 2:30am as my shuttle to the airport picked me up at at 3:30am.

Sometime around 1am I was awoken by a pesky Javelina trying to knock my garbage can over. One quick slam of my front door sent the poor little fella bolting for the hills. I’m a bit more cautious of those guys now as a couple guys I know who just started a Javelina relocation service said that a neighbor down the street was attacked and bitten through the leg a couple nights ago.

By the time I left LAX at noon (PST) it was already 3am in Bangkok, my arrival city. So by fully adapting the destination time zone once on the plane I can try to make the crazy adaption a bit easier.  I Immediately I downed a Benadryl and Melatonin pill, ate my Vegan prepared meal, placed my newly purchased neck pillow where it needed to go and situated my earplugs and eye mask.  Within minutes I was out.  Not a full out sleep, but enough to have some mid-air mild dreams.  After a light 6 hour nap, here I am, somewhere over a really big sea writing in this journal. (At current writing this, the arrival time to Beijing is seven hours an 15 mins.)

I should mention that I am riding on Air China’s newest plane, the Boeing 777-300ER.  It comes with 2 first class seats – which I can only assume is probably like flying in your own Gulfstream as those seats were hidden in the front, XX business class complete with lay down sideways seating and XX economy class in a 3x3x3 seating configuration.  Economy class is pretty damn good compared to what I was expecting. Lots of legroom and even a little fold down foot rest. The best thing of all – 110v plug in ports. No, the best thing was that as I had the window seat and another gentleman has the aisle, no one occupied the middle seat. A 13 hr. flight with a bonus.  Sweet.

Oh, when I inquired at checkin about upgrading to business class I was quoted, “about three to four THOUSAND”. Yikes.  Um, no thanks.

5.5 hours till we land in Beijing – It’s 10:45am in Bangkok. 8:45pm in Arizona. Good morning! Time for a movie.
